Choosing a free email template
Perhaps the most challenging and time-consuming aspect of creating an email marketing campaign is designing your newsletter.
Luckily most email service providers give you access to free email templates. If you’re planning on launching an email campaign and thinking of making use of a pre-made newsletter template, here are a few things to consider:
1) Create an image that suits your business
Choose a template that suits your business or industry. Think about your subscribers’ expectations. If you run a financial service, they are more likely to appreciate a classic, sophisticated layout without too many visual distractions. However, if you run a production company, your subscribers are more likely to be impressed by a visually impacting, funky image.
2) Your newsletter should build brand recognition
When choosing a ready-to-use template, bear in mind that even though templates are generic, it’s important to ensure that your HTML email newsletter is recognizable to your subscribers. This means that, upon opening your email newsletter, your subscribers should be met with a familiar layout and design. It’s a way of building brand awareness. Ideally, you should be able to edit the chosen template to reflect your business brand – most ready-to-use templates are easily editable to make it easy for you to incorporate your logo or other brand elements.
3) Keep a balance
A clean, simple layout is always easy on the eyes and therefore very popular and effective. When choosing a template, aim for a layout that balances content and images. Too much of either could deter your subscribers from reading your full email. You don’t want your subscribers to be so distracted by your images that they neglect to read your full content, however reams or solid blocks of text could also put them off. Balance is key.
4) Test One of the benefits of using email marketing templates is that they’ve usually been tested to ensure that they render well across all email clients. However, always send a test send of your newsletter to yourself to ensure that all links, anchor links and images are working and displaying correctly.
Global email marketing solution, GraphicMail, have created a library of free email templates from which clients may select any number of templates. Their templates are designed to cater to a range of industries, occasions and events.
